Andrew Kelly – Wandering musician
Keep an eye out for our wandering musician, Andrew Kelly.
Originally from New Zealand, a Cricklewood local, Andrew Kelly is a freelance violinist currently based in London.
Developing a keen ear from listening to his older siblings play the piano, he began learning the
violin at age 5 through the Suzuki Method.
Having studied at the Royal College of Music and The University of Auckland, Andrew is equally
at home in the world of Classical music as well as having a flair for jazz improvisation and pop
music. Partaking as the youngest member of the NZSO National Youth Orchestra at age 15, he
was awarded the loan of a 1749 Gagliano violin in 2018.
A regular busker as well as dinner party entertainer, he enjoys playing for all audiences and
recording sessions for London based musicians. Recent highlights include recording the music for
the Amazon Prime TV show Catherine Called Birdy, and playing at the J/M Gallery in Notting Hill
with a live DJ. He is currently taking part in the Orpheus Sinfonia’s Fellowship Scheme as well as
being a 1st violinist in the Fidelio Orchestra and regular member of the Hastings Philharmonic,
where he recently performed a 5 show series of Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro at the Arcola Theatre
in Dalston.
