About Cricklewood Town Team

The Cricklewood Town Team (CTT) works to improve the environment and build a stronger community alongside residents’ associations, community creative and faith groups, local businesses, statutory partners including the police and Barnet, Brent and Camden councils as well as the voluntary sector. Straddling the junction of three boroughs and three wards CTT works in response to feedback from and surveys of residents, businesses and traders around Cricklewood to create a thriving local economy, increase visitor enjoyment and make a greener cleaner environment and a safe place for all of us – a community where all voices are heard and valued. CIP was created by Cricklewood Homeless Concern, now Ashford Place, in partnership with members of Cricklewood’s residents’ associations in 2010, focused on creating a climate for change that encourages local people to be involved in the future for Cricklewood.

The current aim is developing a coherent approach for Cricklewood, particularly with the issues relating to development plans in the Town and the Brent X development programme, which will have a significant impact on those living within the Cricklewood area.

Whilst the CTT is a small team made up of local volunteers, the success of everything it does depends on its culture of collaborative working with local residents and businesses. It’s not just about making things look better, it’s about getting together, crossing invisible and mapped barriers and making that process enjoyable. Our success is built on small events like litter picks as much as planting trees and erecting a huge Cricklewood sign so everyone knows where they are. Since 2010 CTT has staged a wide range of events, from the innovative mobile Town Square festival to artists installations, community made murals, music events, Maypole dancing, street greening and cleaning and the June Music Event by our Patrons The King’s Parade. Everything you can imagine to liven up and improve the public realm in the area.

Recent developments include:

      • The Pedestrianisation of Oaklands Road
      • Our Partnership with Govia Trains which is evident at Cricklewood Station with the welcome signs, library and history project on Platform 1 passenger waiting area.
      • supporting the Green Space in Cricklewood Lane being listed by LB Barnet as an Asset of Community Value, following sustained effort from North West Two and the Grove Residents’ Associations and the installation of the flock of sheep.
      •  the transformation of the Swan Hill – beside the Cricklewood rail bridge – with the efforts of the Community Gardeners and the local artist installing the Swans.
      • Instigating the work by LB Barnet and TfL to install the Legible London signposts from the station in 2019.
