Cricklewood clean up a success!
We had a great team turning out to Clean Up Cricklewood on 21st August. We focused on Cricklewood Lane to ensure that we had cleared offending rubbish, flyers stuck on bus stops, phone boxes and advertising boards and the hideous graffiti that blights the area. The Barnet team included JCDeveaux, Community Payback who concentrated on the green area beside B&Q and the street cleaning team.
Because we had such a good turn out, we added in the Broadway. The Camden team cleared the other side of the Lane and were supported by the team from B&Q. The McDonalds volunteers worked from Beacon Bingo down to their store and told me how useful they found the process. We had a good turn out from members of the community who went off with their pickers and bags and cleared the Brent side of the Broadway while others cleared the rubbish and weeds from the median strip - around the trees. Thanks to B&Q for the supply of weed killer and trowels to help them with the task. And effort was put into cleaning the streets on the Brent side of the Broadway by keen community volunteers - thank you.
We left a very happy market manager, who had joined us before the market opened, but on a very sunny day it was great to see how clean and tidy the area can be.
It was a great event and enormous thanks to my colleagues on the Town Team for coordinating and organising all the people who turned up on the day and thank you to the members of the community for joining in with us and feeding back their comments. We have had a lot of support following the event from people because they love Cricklewood.
