Outer London Fund Updates

Posted on 1 February 2013

Cricklewood town centre was awarded £1.676m from the Mayor of London’s Outer London Fund Round 2 in 2012. The fund is helping to increase the vibrancy and growth of high street places across London. The following aspects of the two-year project are currently underway:

The design team at Gort Scott has identified some strong candidates for frontage improvements. In addition, the brand identity and website for Cricklewood are nearly finalised.

The BT phone box at 69 – 71 Cricklewood Broadway has been removed and a further four BT phone boxes will be removed imminently from 195 Cricklewood Broadway, Anson Road/Cricklewood Broadway, 139 Cricklewood Broadway, and outside Matalan. Robin Lee Architects are in consultation with LB Barnet, LB Brent and LB Camden on the removal of selected bollards and guardrails to create more space for pedestrians. Plans to introduce more street trees, improved paving, better bins and more cycle stands are also being developed.

Thomas Ball, a member of Creative Cricklewood, will be taking portraits of shop owners this spring as part of an exciting street-wide photography project that celebrates the diversity of Cricklewood town centre.
